Dear Parents and students:
Welcome back to school!!! I'm very excited for this year and I look forward to getting to know all of you and working with your child. It’s important for me that your child feel at ease. I would appreciate a “quick” note from you letting me know about your child. Please specify if there is anything that I should be aware of or any concerns that you might have. In order for this year to run more smoothly, I’ve listed some of my expectations and policies for the class, as well as some school policies. Once you have read everything, please sign your name, detach your signature, and send it to school with your child. If you ever have any questions or concerns throughout the year, please feel free to contact me.
Thank you, and I look forward to a great year!!

We will have P.E. every other Tuesday this year with Mrs. Foley. Please make sure your child is dressed in the appropriate athletic shoes. It is also recommended that girls not wear dresses on these days.
Students are invited to bring water bottles to keep themselves hydrated.
Homework is sent home Monday thru Thursday. The homework is an opportunity to for child to practice what we learned in class that day, as well as a window to you on how well your child comprehends the day’s lessons. Please review their work with them on a daily basis.
Volunteers are welcome any time. Please let me know the day and time you would like to come and I will try to have something prepared for you.
I am asking that each child have the following supplies:
• Backpack
• Pencils
• Homework folder
• Scissors
• Come to school everyday, prepared to learn.
• Be respectful to others.
• Follow directions.
A.R. is new to many second graders. Each child is assigned an individual goal. A poster will be put up in the classroom that keeps the students and parents aware of their current percentage toward completion. At any time you may stop by to check. Each child is expected to reach their goal at the end of each trimester.
If you have any questions or concerns I would love to meet with you and work on a plan together, that will make your child’s learning experience a complete success.
Thank you,
Mrs. Mello
