A FEW THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW:

1.  Please make sure to clear all absences with the office.

2.  Our P.E. training this year with Mrs. Foley is every other Thursday.  Please make sure your child is dressed in appropriate shoes on these days.

3.  Homework is sent home Monday through Thursday.  Homework is an opportunity for your child to practice what they have learned in class that day as well as establishing a strong sense of responsibility.  They are also expected to read 15 minutes each homework night.  Please check their homework nightly for understanding and initial the parent form.

4.  A big "THANK YOU" to all parent volunteers we have in the classroom.

5.  Check with your child occasionally on their need for school supplies.  Just as a reminder, I would prefer they did not have mechanical pencils.

6.  Classroom rules are simple:

--come to school everyday, alert and ready to learn

     --be respectful to all

     --follow directions the first time

     --practice good listening skills

     --show independence in your learning

7.  Accelerated Reader is new to many second graders.  Each child has been assigned an individual goal for the  2nd trimester and these goals will be sent home soon.  Very soon, we will be taking the STAR reading test which will establish a "zone" of books they should be able to read independently.  When they are done reading the book, they take a quiz, it is scored, and progress is tracked within each child's file.

8.  If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at school.  The number is 688-7451.

                                      Thank you,

                                       Miss Seidel
