Advanced Careers Syllabus

 

CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS

  1. Students will come to class prepared with the following materials:
    1. Writing utensils:  blue and/or black pens and pencils
    2. 1 spiral notebooks (college ruled)
    3. Binder paper (college ruled)
  2. Students will be expected to be in their seats with their materials when the bell rings; otherwise, they will be tardy!
  3. There is no food or drinks in the classroom.
  4. Students will come to class with a positive attitude and show respect to the teacher as well as their classmates. No one will interfere with another student’s learning.  
  5. No cell phones.

 

CLASSROOM RULES

1.      Follow Directions.

2.      Respect Others and Use Good Manners.

3.      Forgive, Forget, and Move On.

DISCIPLINE PLAN

PREAMBLE:

I believe that the learning experience in our classroom is important. The teacher has a right to teach, each student has a right to learn, and all students can and must behave appropriately.

 

CONSEQUENCES:

 

1st offense       Warning

2nd offense       Lose a recess

3rd offense       Lose any privileges for that day and referral notice

4th offense       Phone call to parent

5th offense       Referral to principal

 

Students who behave well in my classroom and at school will earn:

 

1.      Lots of praise and recognition

2.      Student incentives

3.      Special certificates

4.      Participation in special events and activities

5.      A sense of pride and responsibility

Title of assignment
At the top of all papers students must include the following:

a.       Student’s class ID number with first and last name (top right

hand corner)

b.      Class name and period

c.       Title of assignment (center of top line of paper)

-All work must be neat and readable otherwise, it will be graded

with zero (0) credit.

-Work must be done on front-side of paper only!

             

HOMEWORK POLICY

Some homework is given in this class. Students have a daily log to record assignments and homework. Work not finished in class may also be sent home to complete. At the end of the day, the assignments are put on the board. Each student is to write down the assignments before he/she is dismissed.

 

LATE WORK      

 1. No late work will be accepted!

 2. Excused Absences:  The student will have the      

     same number of days absent to make up the  

     assignment(s).

The following is the grading criteria for each category:

 

Special Projects- Career Brochure, Yellow Pages Ad, Job Webpage, Resume, and College Comparison       60%

Class work, Homework, & Misc. Assignments      15%

Tests & Quizzes           15%

Academic Effort            10%

 

GRADING SCALE                    

                    100-90=A

                                   89-80=B

                      79-70=C

                      69-60=D

                 BELOW=F

 NO EXTRA CREDIT WORK WILL BE ASSIGNED!
