John Carlos was born in Harlem, New York on June, 5th, 1945.

John Carlos was one of five children born.

As a boy John Carlos always had a dream about playing in the Olympics, he called it his "vision".

When John was in his youth would go down to the city and open cab doors for people and other things to make money, and he called it his "hustle".

 

Middle Life of John Carlos

John Carlos in high school got a full scholarship to E.T.S.U (East Texas State University).

When at E.T.S.U John Carlos led them to their first Lonestar Championship.

The next year John Carlos transferred to S.J.S.U (San Jose State University) to be under the coach there Bud Winter.

John Carlos at S.J.S.U got a elected to try out for the 1968 Olympic games.

At the Olympic trials, John Carlos shocked the track when he won the 200m dash in 19.92 seconds, beating a world record.

But the world record was never ratified, because of the spike information on track shoes "brush spikes" and they were not accepted at the time
